Cavideo was created in 1997 as a specialized film and rare art rental shop, becoming a reference for moviegoers in Rio. Nowadays, it is also a producer and distributor of independent national films.

It has produced 143 shorts and 62 feature films, along with 10 TV series, video clips and videodances. These films participated in several national and international festivals like Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, winning 178 awards.

Cavideo was responsible for the return of the cineclub movement in the early 2000s in Rio de Janeiro, helping to create 18 alternative exhibition spaces. It also created the free short films distribution project “CURTAS NA PRATELEIRA” (Short Films on the Shelf) and distributed 25 Brazilian feature films in commercial movie theaters in the last 5 years.
